**Bengaluru:** Karnataka Congress MLA Satish Kumar Sail has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment and fined heavily by a special court in a theft and illegal iron ore transportation case. Six others were also convicted in the same case. This conviction has raised the possibility of Sail being disqualified as an MLA.
Central Minister Prahlad Joshi has requested the Assembly Speaker to immediately disqualify Satish Sail from his position, considering the jail sentence. Sail, currently the MLA for Karwar, was accused of theft, fraud, and criminal conspiracy while serving as the Managing Director of Sri Mallikarjuna Shipping Private Limited.
The court, in its verdict delivered on Thursday, found the accusations against Sail and the six others to be true and sentenced them to imprisonment and a fine of ₹6 crore.
