**Mumbai, October 27, 2024:** A stampede occurred at Bandra Terminus this morning, injuring two passengers. The incident took place as some passengers attempted to board a moving train, the 22921 Bandra Terminus-Gorakhpur Antyodaya Express, which was scheduled to depart at 5:15 am.
The train was being moved from the yard to the platform at 2:44 am when some passengers attempted to board before it came to a complete stop. The resulting commotion led to two passengers being injured. They were immediately rushed to Bhaba Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
The Western Railway has appealed to passengers to refrain from boarding moving trains and to follow instructions given by railway staff. The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and ticket checking staff are present at stations to ensure safe and convenient boarding for passengers.
“Western Railway has made adequate arrangements for passenger amenities for scheduled trains,” said Vinay Abhishek, Public Relations Officer. “Ticket counters have been increased, and holding areas have been created at major stations to provide comfortable seating for passengers and facilitate a smooth boarding process through an organized queue.”
The Western Railway has also been issuing notifications for holiday special trains. Over 2,500 special train notifications have been issued so far. Information about these trains is being disseminated through print media, social media, and other public information systems.
The Western Railway prioritizes passenger safety and urges all passengers to follow the designated protocol at the station and avoid boarding moving trains. This will not only ensure their safety but also make their journey comfortable and secure.
