Sun Oct 27 10:20:14 UTC 2024: ## NCP Releases First List of Candidates for Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Including Three From Vidarbha

**Nagpur, October 26, 2023:** After much anticipation, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharad Pawar has finally released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. The list includes three candidates from the Vidarbha region.

The NCP has nominated **Bhagyashree Atraam**, daughter of Minister Dharmarav Baba Atraam, for the Aheri Assembly seat, effectively challenging her father. **Duneshwar Pethwe** has been named as the candidate for Nagpur East, while **Anil Deshmukh** will once again contest from the Katol Assembly seat.

The NCP is contesting on 85 seats as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance. The party’s president, Jayant Patil, released the first list of 45 candidates, including seven from Vidarbha, on Thursday in Pune.

Patil also confirmed that an agreement has been reached between the three alliance partners to contest 85 seats each. The remaining seats will be allocated to allied parties. The decision on the candidate for the Anushakti Nagar constituency in Mumbai, currently represented by Nawab Malik, will be announced soon.

The announcement of the candidates comes as the state gears up for the upcoming assembly elections, scheduled for later this year.
