Sat Oct 26 07:54:06 UTC 2024: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline for corporate taxpayers to file income tax returns for the Assessment Year 2024-25 from October 31 to November 15, 2024. This change, announced by the Ministry of Finance, specifically affects taxpayers under sub-Section (1) of Section 139 of the Income-tax Act, 1961. The extension follows a recent adjustment to the tax audit report submission deadline, which is now due by October 7, 2024.
However, tax forms such as the Tax Audit Report, transfer pricing certification in Form 3CEB, and Form 10DA remain due by the original deadline of October 31, 2024. Experts believe the deadline extension is strategically timed for the festive season, allowing taxpayers to focus on accuracy and compliance without the pressure of last-minute filings.
