Thu Oct 24 18:58:05 UTC 2024: Nvidia, a leading chip company, has launched a lightweight artificial intelligence model specifically for India, which can be used in Hindi. The event featured CEO Jensen Huang, who introduced the model named Nemotron-4-Mini-Hindi-4B. This model is designed to help firms create their own AI solutions.

During an interview with India Today, Huang addressed concerns about India’s dependency on foreign technologies in the AI revolution. He emphasized that with local data and energy sources, India can develop its own AI infrastructure and export its creations rather than relying on external models.

Nvidia has already engaged with various companies in India about leveraging this Hindi AI model. The model was trained using a mix of real-world Hindi data, synthetic Hindi data, and an equal amount of English data. Tech Mahindra is among the first companies to utilize Nvidia’s model to develop a custom AI solution named Indus 2.0.

These smaller language models are trained on specific datasets, making them cost-effective and appealing for companies, unlike larger models such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Global chip firms are increasingly investing in India and establishing facilities to enhance their presence in the market.
