Fri Oct 25 07:52:16 UTC 2024: The BJP criticized Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s nomination for the Wayanad bypoll, labeling it a triumph of dynastic politics and a setback for merit. BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia claimed discrepancies in her poll affidavit regarding asset declarations, alleging that her reported assets were significantly lower than those owned by her and her husband, Robert Vadra. Bhatia highlighted that the assets listed in her affidavit do not match the income tax demands against Vadra, amounting to Rs 75 crore. He also accused the Gandhi family of corruption and claimed they disrespected Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge by not allowing him to accompany Priyanka Gandhi for her nomination filing. Priyanka Gandhi has declared assets exceeding Rs 12 crore in her affidavit, including a house in Shimla valued at Rs 5.63 crore.
