She experienced cardiac arrest and was transported to Seoul’s St. Mary’s Hospital, where she was ultimately pronounced dead. In the months leading up to her passing, she had halted her broadcasting activities and performances due to health issues stemming from fatigue.
Kim Soo-mi, born in 1949, debuted as an MBC talent in 1970. She was known for her exotic beauty and was beloved for her role as the character Il-yong-eomni in the long-running countryside drama “Jeonwon Ilgi,” which aired for 22 years starting in 1980. She also starred as the lead female in the “Gamenui Yeonggwang” movie series. She is survived by a daughter and a son, Jeong Myung-ho, whose spouse is actress Seo Hyo-rim. Her memorial service will be held at Hanyang University Hospital in Seoul, where she received treatment.
