Thu Oct 24 09:56:46 UTC 2024: Khar Gymkhana has revoked the membership of Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues due to complaints about her father, Ivan Rodrigues, allegedly misusing her membership privileges. This decision was made unanimously during the Gymkhana’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). Ivan was accused of booking the Presidential Hall at concessional rates for religious events, violating the Gymkhana’s by-laws, specifically Article 4. Members discovered that approximately 35 such events occurred over the past year and a half.

Shiv Malhotra, a member of the managing committee, highlighted that while Jemimah is a source of pride for the country, her father’s misuse of her membership privileges led to the decision. The Gymkhana aimed to uphold fairness and adherence to its rules, stressing the significance of proper usage of facilities. Madhvi Ashar, the Vice President, noted that the members were upset upon hearing the details regarding the misuse.

Although Jemimah Rodrigues has made notable contributions to Indian cricket with 3 Tests, 30 ODIs, and 104 T20Is, the Gymkhana felt it necessary to take disciplinary action in light of the situation.
