Wed Oct 23 12:37:24 UTC 2024: – The Kerala government has approved an installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for state service employees and teachers.
– Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal announced that a similar relief will be granted to pensioners as well.
– Benefits of DA and DR will be applicable across all sectors, including UGC, AICTE, and medical services.
– The approved DA and DR will be disbursed along with next month’s salaries and pensions.
– This decision will increase the government’s annual expenditure by approximately ₹2000 crore.
– Earlier this year, an installment of DA and DR was granted in April.
– The government has decided to approve two installments of DA and DR each year starting from this year.
– The Finance Minister mentioned that the DA benefits had already been paid in monetary form at the beginning of the 2021-22 fiscal year.
– He highlighted that adverse policies of the central government have pushed Kerala into a severe financial crisis, causing delays in providing benefits to employees.
