Mon Oct 21 11:16:27 UTC 2024: During the Indian Super League match on Sunday between Kerala Blasters and Mohammedan Sporting in Kolkata, several Kerala Blasters fans reported injuries due to missiles thrown by Mohammedan supporters. Notably, one fan bled from his nose after being struck by a stick, while another experienced temporary discomfort from a bottle that hit him.

Somu P Joseph, a member of the Blasters’ fan group Manjappada, highlighted that the environment was hostile, characterizing the incident as hooliganism. He noted that unlike previous away matches, where safety protocols were adhered to, no measures were taken at this game to safeguard travelling fans, who usually sit in designated areas.

Fans were subjected to various projectiles, including bottles and chewed pan-filled paper cups, while security forces appeared passive, merely observing the chaos without intervening.

In response, Kerala Blasters issued a statement expressing deep concern about the aggression faced by their supporters and emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of their fans during matches, both at home and away.
