Mon Oct 21 17:02:12 UTC 2024: The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has ordered the implementation of GRAP-II in Delhi-NCR starting from 8:00 A.M. on October 22, 2024, due to worsening air quality in the region. This decision comes as several areas in Delhi report poor air quality, with Anand Vihar recording an AQI of 226, classified as “Unhealthy.” The CAQM has urged residents to use public transport and avoid personal vehicles, suggesting alternative routes and encouraging regular maintenance of air filters in cars. Additionally, the commission advised against dust-generating construction activities during the months of October to January. Dr. Rajesh Chawla has noted a rise in respiratory issues, indicating that air pollution levels are increasing rapidly, affecting health.
