Sun Oct 20 06:34:08 UTC 2024: In a recent Test match in Bengaluru, Jasprit Bumrah took the wicket of Devon Conway, who was dismissed LBW for 17 runs. The dismissal came after a strong appeal was initially turned down by the umpire. Rohit Sharma, the captain, consulted with wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel and Virat Kohli about using DRS. Kohli confidently urged Rohit to go for the review, which resulted in Conway being ruled out after the third umpire confirmed the ball was hitting the stumps.
This wicket marked Bumrah’s second of the innings, contributing to India’s success against New Zealand, as they had restricted the opposition to a modest target of 107 runs. Earlier, Bumrah had also dismissed Tom Latham, giving India an early advantage. Despite India being bowled out for just 46 runs in their first innings, they have managed to contain New Zealand effectively in the match. Up to that point in the WTC 2023-25, Bumrah had taken 45 wickets. The match was delayed due to rain on the final day.
