**Wellington, New Zealand:** India’s tour of New Zealand has gotten off to a shaky start, with the team facing further injury concerns just three days into the first Test. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had earlier taken a sharp catch to dismiss Daryll Mitchell, was forced to leave the field after sustaining an injury to his hand.
Jaiswal, who had just completed a brilliant catch at gully, was seen clutching his hand in pain after the incident. The incident happened on the final delivery of the 55th over, bowled by Mohammed Siraj.
This injury comes as another blow to India, who are already grappling with the absence of wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. Pant, who sustained a knee injury on Day 1 of the match, did not take the field on Day 3.
Speaking about Pant’s injury, captain Rohit Sharma revealed that the injury was to the same knee that underwent surgery earlier this year after a car crash. The team management is monitoring Pant’s progress.
India are already under pressure after being bowled out for a paltry 46 runs in their first innings, their lowest-ever score at home. The team will be hoping that these injuries do not further disrupt their campaign in the ongoing series.
