Fri Oct 18 05:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Las Vegas Braces for Windy Thursday, Cool Weekend Ahead

Las Vegas residents are advised to batten down the hatches as strong winds are expected to sweep through the city on Thursday, bringing gusts of up to 30 mph from the southwest. While the day will be sunny with highs in the low 80s, the wind will strengthen further overnight as a cold front arrives.

The front will bring gusts of 35-40 mph from the northwest, plummeting temperatures to the upper 50s. A 10% chance of showers is predicted for Las Vegas Thursday night and Friday morning, but the majority of the precipitation is expected to hit Utah, with a 70% chance in Mesquite and a 90% chance in St. George.

Friday morning will be brisk with north winds at 30-40 mph, making temperatures in the upper 50s feel noticeably colder. Although the sky is expected to be mostly sunny, north winds at 20-35 mph in the afternoon will make highs in the upper 60s feel cool.

The strong winds will linger late Friday night and Saturday morning, making lows in the 50s feel even colder. Saturday will bring gusts of 25 mph in the morning, dropping to 15 mph in the afternoon, with sunshine helping afternoon highs climb to the low 70s.

A calm and clear, but chilly Saturday night will see lows dip to the low 50s by sunrise on Sunday. Sunday is forecast to be a beautiful day with sunshine and calm conditions, and afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

While temperatures are expected to rise back to the low 80s next week, evenings and early mornings will remain chilly with lows in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees.
