Fri Oct 18 01:05:40 UTC 2024: ## New Zealand Bowlers Wreak Havoc in Bengaluru, Send India Crashing to Record Low Score

**Bengaluru, India:** New Zealand bowlers Matt Henry and William O’Rourke ran riot on the second day of the first Test against India, delivering a devastating performance that left the hosts reeling at a record low score of 46. Henry claimed a five-wicket haul, his 100th Test wicket, while O’Rourke took four crucial wickets, including that of Virat Kohli.

Henry, known for his ability to extract movement in overcast conditions, proved to be a nightmare for the Indian batters. Despite a slow start, he bowled with relentless accuracy and pace, inducing 14 false shots and beating the batsmen five times before finally striking with a sharp delivery that was snagged by Devon Conway at mid-off.

O’Rourke, a towering fast bowler, impressed with his ability to extract bounce from the Bengaluru pitch. He rattled the Indian top order, taking the wickets of Jaiswal, Rahul, and Kohli, showcasing his potential as a rising star in New Zealand cricket.

Henry highlighted O’Rourke’s impressive height and the steep bounce he generates as crucial factors in his success. “His height’s the X-factor,” Henry said. “He gets a lot of bounce, he’s very tall and he uses that height at the crease as well, so as you see, he gets a lot of steep bounce off quite a full length as well, making it really uncomfortable, especially with the ball coming into the right-handers.”

The duo’s outstanding performance left India facing a daunting task in their bid to salvage the Test match. New Zealand, with a 134-run lead and seven wickets in hand, are in a strong position to claim victory.

Henry, reflecting on the team’s success, emphasized the importance of patience and persistence in their bowling strategy. “The conditions this morning, we talked about being relentless with the ball, and being patient,” he said. “And I think that was probably something that we looked to do, and thankfully it came off.”
