Fri Oct 18 10:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Strands Puzzle Stumped Even the Experts: Today’s Theme is “DUMPLINGs”

The New York Times’ Strands puzzle, a word search with a twist, has challenged even seasoned players this week. The daily game, which is still in beta, requires players to identify a group of words with a common theme, revealed by a special word called a “spangram”.

Today’s puzzle, described as “the most difficult one in a while” by one player, presented a tricky theme: DUMPLINGs. This led to some confusion, as the spangram “GEEZYEAHOKAY” didn’t immediately suggest a food-based theme, and the player initially assumed any wrapped food would qualify. However, it was the DUMPLING theme that proved challenging, with words like PIEROGI and EMPANADA proving difficult to find.

Despite the difficulties, players were ultimately able to identify a variety of dumplings, including RAVIOLI, GYOZA, WONTON, and SAMOSA.

The Strands puzzle, which is becoming increasingly popular, provides a unique word-based challenge each day. It’s a welcome addition to the world of daily word games, offering a different kind of mental exercise than its popular counterpart, Wordle.
