Fri Oct 18 14:51:59 UTC 2024: ## JEE Main 2025 Format Changes: Choice Removed for Section B Questions

**New Delhi, October 18, 2024:** The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a major change to the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 format, eliminating the option for students to select questions in Section B of the exam. This change, effective from the upcoming academic year, reverts to the pre-pandemic format.

The NTA introduced the option to select questions in Section B during the COVID-19 pandemic to alleviate pressure on students facing unprecedented challenges. However, with the World Health Organization declaring the end of the pandemic as a public health emergency in May 2023, the agency has decided to revert to the original structure.

Starting from JEE Main 2025, candidates will be required to attempt all five questions in Section B for each subject, including Paper 1 (B.E./B. Tech), Paper 2A (B. Arch), and Paper 2B (B. Planning). This change eliminates the flexibility introduced in 2021, where students could choose any five out of ten numerical questions.

The NTA has confirmed that the application process for the first phase of JEE Main 2025 will commence shortly, with details to be released on its official website.
