Fri Oct 18 01:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Mets’ Nimmo Battling Plantar Fasciitis, but Determined to Play Through Pain

**LOS ANGELES** – Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo is battling through plantar fasciitis, an injury that has hampered him since the NLDS. While the condition has flared up in recent weeks, Nimmo is determined to contribute to his team’s playoff run.

“The worst part is getting out of bed in the morning,” Nimmo admitted, describing the pain as “terrible.”

Despite the discomfort, Nimmo has been able to play in the majority of the Mets’ playoff games. He has been undergoing a rigorous treatment regimen, including stretching, massage, ice therapy, dry needling, and using a specialized machine.

Although Nimmo’s offensive production has been inconsistent since the NLDS, he has hit several balls hard and remains a threat at the plate.

“I hit balls well today, had good at-bats, made a play on defense. So I’m the best Nimmo that there is right now,” Nimmo said after Game 2 of the NLCS. “I’ll give it everything I’ve got and try to help us win however I can.”

While Nimmo has been playing through the pain, Manager Carlos Mendoza has made adjustments to his playing time, removing him defensively in the ninth inning of both Game 1 and Game 2 of the NLCS.

“It got to a point where you see him limping when he’s taking the field and things like that,” Mendoza said.

After the playoffs, Nimmo will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection to further treat the injury. He hopes to avoid surgery, which he believes would be necessary for only a small percentage of plantar fasciitis cases.

Despite the challenges, Nimmo remains optimistic about his ability to contribute to the Mets’ postseason success. “We’re going to stay on the field for as long as I possibly can,” he said.
