**Maharajganj, India (October 8, 2023):** A Brazilian national was arrested in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday for attempting to enter the country without a visa or proper documentation.
Joaquim dos Santos Neto (37) was apprehended by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) during a routine check at the Sonouli border crossing with Nepal. While Neto possessed a Brazilian passport, he lacked any documents for an Indian visa, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Atish Kumar Singh.
Sonouli is a well-known transit point between India and Nepal. A case has been registered against Neto, and the Intelligence Bureau has been notified about the incident.
