**Maharajganj, India (October 9, 2024):** A Brazilian citizen, identified as 32-year-old Joaquim dos Santos Neto, was arrested on Tuesday for attempting to illegally enter India from Nepal. Neto, a website designer, was apprehended by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel during a routine check at the Sonauli border crossing.

According to police officials, Neto lacked a valid visa or any other documentation required for entry into India. He was found in possession of a Brazilian passport but was attempting to enter the country illegally, stating his intention to travel to Rajasthan in search of work.

The Sonauli police have registered a case against Neto under the Foreigners Act of 1946 and he has been taken into custody. Additional Superintendent of Police Aatish Singh stated that legal action is being taken to charge Neto under the Foreigners Act and send him to jail. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

Sonauli, located along the India-Nepal border, is a known transit point for travel between the two countries.
