Fri Oct 18 05:15:39 UTC 2024: ## Bomb Threats Ground Flights in India and Canada, Leaving Passengers Stranded
**New Delhi, India -** A wave of bomb threats targeting flights across India and Canada has disrupted travel plans, leaving passengers stranded and authorities scrambling to respond.
Over the past three days, at least 15 flights have received bomb threats, with most turning out to be hoaxes. The threats have impacted both domestic and international flights, forcing diversions, delays, and in one case, an unprecedented airlift.
On Wednesday, a Delhi-Chicago Air India flight was forced to divert to Iqaluit, a remote airport in Canada, after receiving a bomb threat. The Canadian military deployed a CC-330 aircraft to airlift over 200 passengers to Chicago, as the diversion left them stranded for over 36 hours.
In India, multiple flights, including those operated by IndiGo, Akasa Air, and SpiceJet, also received bomb threats, causing disruptions. While most were declared hoaxes, the incidents have raised concerns about aviation security.
Indian authorities have launched investigations, arresting a minor in Mumbai for making threats against three flights.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has held meetings with security agencies and aviation officials to discuss the situation and address the recent surge in bomb threats.
“We are monitoring the situation. Our law enforcement agencies are pursuing the case actively,” said Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu.
Police have registered cases against those responsible for the threats and are actively investigating the incidents. Social media accounts involved in spreading false information have been suspended.
The incident highlights the growing concern over aviation security and the challenges posed by malicious actors who disrupt travel plans and threaten public safety.
