**Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh:** Two accused in the recent violence that erupted in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, were shot by police on Thursday while attempting to flee to Nepal. The injured accused, identified as Sarfaraz and Talib, were reportedly armed and opened fire on police officers who were attempting to recover the murder weapon.

The incident follows the death of Ram Gopal Mishra, 22, who was shot during a Durga idol immersion procession on October 13th. The post-mortem examination revealed 25-30 pellets in his body, indicating a brutal attack.

In response to Mishra’s death, mobs vandalized shops and vehicles, leading to widespread unrest.

Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the violence, including Danish alias Shaheer Khan, one of the six named in the murder case. The two injured accused are currently receiving treatment.

The Uttar Pradesh government has confirmed the recovery of the murder weapon. Mobile internet and broadband services, which were suspended for three days following the violence, have now resumed.

A total of 11 cases have been registered, with 55 people arrested so far. Investigations are ongoing.
