Thu Oct 17 13:04:20 UTC 2024: ## India Crumbles to NZ’s Bowling Masterclass in Bengaluru Test

**Bengaluru, October 17th, 2024:** The first Test match between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru witnessed a stunning collapse from the Indian team on Day 2, leaving the hosts reeling at a paltry 46 all out. New Zealand, in reply, ended the day at 180/3, holding a commanding lead of 134 runs.

The day began with India resuming on 10/3, still reeling from a disastrous first day. The rain-affected opening day saw India lose three quick wickets. Day 2 proved no better as New Zealand’s pace attack wreaked havoc, leaving India struggling to get going.

Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers, claiming a five-wicket haul, including a crucial wicket of Kuldeep Yadav to wrap up the innings. William O’Rourke also chipped in with four wickets. Notably, India’s top order crumbled, with none of the top six batsmen managing to reach double figures.

New Zealand then capitalized on their dominant position. Devon Conway, despite falling just short of a century (91), played a crucial role in laying the foundation for a substantial lead. While his innings was cut short by Ravichandran Ashwin, Will Young (33) provided valuable support.

With the rain playing a significant role throughout the day, the match was interrupted several times, affecting the flow of the game.

The Indian bowlers, however, managed to strike back with two crucial wickets, removing Young and Conway. However, New Zealand finished the day strong, with Rachin Ravindra (22) and Daryl Mitchell (14) at the crease.

India faces an uphill task to recover from this devastating collapse and will need a strong performance from their bowlers on Day 3 to stay in the game. The match has been thrown wide open, with the Kiwis holding a clear advantage.
