However, Chennaiyin FC responded with a determined display and equalized in the 25th minute through Wilmar Jordan Gil, who capitalized on a precise corner kick from Connor Shields.

The visitors continued their momentum, taking the lead for the first time in the 34th minute when Lukas Brambilla calmly slotted home a penalty after Ryan Edwards was fouled. Chennaiyin FC went further ahead in the 51st minute as Gil netted his second goal, taking advantage of a defensive lapse by NorthEast United.

Despite dominating possession in the second half, NorthEast United struggled to create clear-cut chances. Chennaiyin FC, on the other hand, tightened their grip on the game, and even after Laldinliana Renthlei was sent off in the 83rd minute, they held onto their lead.

The Highlanders pulled one goal back in the 89th minute when Alaaeddine Ajaraie converted a penalty. However, it was too little too late, as Chennaiyin FC secured a valuable victory, their first since the international break.

The victory will boost Chennaiyin FC’s confidence as they look to climb the ISL table. NorthEast United, meanwhile, will be disappointed with their second loss of the season.
