“We move the coffee table and deconstruct the couch cushions for forts, and our son Rocco uses it for daily pitching practice,” shares Flack, a former ballerina in the New York City Ballet. “On weekends, we sometimes throw a picnic blanket on the rug and let the kids eat dinner at the coffee table while we watch a movie.”
The living room, adorned with vintage Italian onyx lamps and a custom linen sofa, serves as a central gathering space for movie nights, games, and impromptu performances. The space also features gallery-sourced pieces, including cocktail tables by Gal Gaon and a leather side chair by Andre Sornay, adding a touch of curated elegance.
Reese’s design approach focused on creating a functional and inviting home for the family. She removed decorative moldings, lightened the dark hardwood floors, and reconfigured walls to improve flow. The result is a series of bright, multifunctional spaces that cater to the family’s lifestyle.
The couple’s love for art and music is evident throughout the home. A series of artist portraits by R. Crumb adorn the living room, while the dining room features a custom banquette with hidden storage for art supplies.
The home’s design highlights the importance of versatility and comfort. Low-profile furniture enhances the flow and maximizes sight lines, while durable fabrics like linen and wool contribute to a sense of serenity. The couple’s collection of vintage Italian movie posters and musician portraits lend a personal touch and create a welcoming atmosphere.

A one-of-a-kind bunk bed upholstered in orange felted wool adds a touch of whimsy to the son’s room, while the daughter’s room features a vibrant wall covering and vintage nightstands.
“Hines Collective designed the apartment to foster our kids’ creativity, largely inspired by how my parents raised my sister and me,” says Flack. “There’s a dress-up area, a toy closet, and an art area so the kids can pull out whatever they want and play independently.”
