Thu Oct 17 15:31:00 UTC 2024: ## Conway’s Century Sets Up New Zealand Dominance in 1st Test

**Chennai, India:** New Zealand took firm control of the first Test against India on Day 2, thanks to a magnificent century from Devon Conway and a resilient partnership between Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell. Conway top-scored with a stunning 91, almost twice the total India managed in their first innings.

India’s batting woes continued, as they were bowled out for a paltry 46 runs, their third-lowest score in Test history and their lowest ever at home. Five batsmen were dismissed for ducks, with only Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal managing double-digit scores. The disastrous innings was compounded by Pant’s injury scare, forcing him to leave the field with a right knee injury.

Despite India’s early collapse, New Zealand weren’t able to completely capitalize on their advantage. Ravindra and Mitchell, both CSK players, put up a solid resistance to end the day on 180/3. The duo will resume their partnership on Day 3 with a clear opportunity to build on their strong foundation and further extend New Zealand’s lead.
