Thu Oct 17 06:30:00 UTC 2024: ## India Crumbles to New Zealand’s Pace Attack, Suffers Historic Low Score in Bengaluru Test

**Bengaluru, India:** In a shocking turn of events, the Indian cricket team suffered a humiliating defeat in the first innings of the first Test against New Zealand, bowled out for a paltry 46 runs in Bengaluru on Tuesday. This is India’s lowest ever score in a Test against New Zealand and their third lowest overall in Test history.

The Kiwi bowlers, led by Mat Henry who claimed a career-best 5 wickets, exploited the overcast conditions to their advantage and ripped through the Indian batting lineup. Five Indian batsmen failed to even score, while only two, Rishabh Pant (20) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (13), managed to reach double figures.

This dismal performance surpassed India’s previous lowest score in a Test against New Zealand, which was 81 runs in the second innings of a Wellington Test in 1976.

India’s lowest ever Test innings score is 36 runs, achieved in December 2020 against Australia in Adelaide. Their second lowest score is 42 runs, recorded in June 1974 against England at Lord’s.

This was also India’s lowest ever score at home, beating their previous lowest of 75 runs in a Test against the West Indies in Delhi in 1987. This is also the lowest score by any team in a Test match in India, beating New Zealand’s 62 runs against India in Mumbai in 2021.

Adding to the humiliation, India’s 46 runs is the lowest score by any team in Asia in a Test match, surpassing West Indies’ 53 runs against Pakistan in Faisalabad in 1986 and Pakistan’s 53 runs against Australia in Sharjah in 2002.

New Zealand will be looking to capitalize on this massive advantage and build a sizeable lead in the first Test, while India will need a miracle to salvage the match.
