Thu Oct 17 13:03:09 UTC 2024: ## India Struggles as New Zealand Dominates Day 2 in Bengaluru Test

**Bengaluru, India:** Day 2 of the first Test match between India and New Zealand saw a complete turnaround in fortunes, with the Kiwis taking control after India’s disastrous first innings collapse. The hosts were bowled out for a paltry 46 runs, their lowest total at home, setting a challenging target for New Zealand.

The Kiwis started the day cautiously, but Devon Conway and Tom Latham steadily built a strong partnership, defying the Indian bowlers. Conway reached a half-century in style, hitting a six over the bowler’s head. Latham, however, fell for 15 after a tight review.

New Zealand continued their dominance, reaching 50 runs in just 13 overs, surpassing India’s total. Conway and Will Young, who came in to replace Latham, batted confidently, scoring runs at a comfortable pace.

India’s bowlers, despite some promising movement, struggled to find a breakthrough. Matt Henry picked up two wickets in quick succession, dismissing Sarfaraz Khan and Virat Kohli for ducks, leaving India reeling at 13/3.

Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, also fell cheaply, bowled by Tim Southee. Rishabh Pant, India’s wicketkeeper, was dropped on 4 and went on to score a crucial boundary, the first for India in 77 balls.

However, India’s batting woes continued as the day progressed. Henry went on to take a five-wicket haul, wrapping up the innings. India’s dismal performance set up a challenging situation for the remainder of the match.

With New Zealand in a commanding position, the final two days will be crucial for India to make a comeback. The weather remains a factor, with chances of showers predicted for the remainder of the match.
