**Bengaluru, India:** India suffered a humiliating defeat on Day 2 of the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru, being bowled out for a paltry 46 runs, their third lowest Test total ever. This is also the lowest ever team score recorded on Indian soil.
The Kiwis, in response, reached 70/1 at stumps, with Devon Conway and Will Young at the crease.
The Indian batting collapse was a sight to behold. Five batsmen were dismissed for ducks, with only Rishabh Pant (20) offering any resistance. Matt Henry was the pick of the Kiwi bowlers, taking 5 wickets, while William O’Rourke claimed 4.
The Indian bowlers, however, will be looking to turn the tide in the match, with the visitors well within reach of a substantial first innings lead.
New Zealand, in their 13th Test series against India, are yet to win a bilateral series on Indian soil. This makes this series a particularly tough test for the Kiwis.
The first day of the match was washed out due to rain, and with India’s dismal batting performance, the Kiwis are now firmly in the driver’s seat.
