**Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh:** Five suspects in the killing of a man that sparked violence in Bahraich were arrested on Thursday after an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Police. Two of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter.

The suspects, identified as Mohammad Faheen, Mohammad Sarfaraz, Abdul Hameed, Mohammad Taleem alias Sabloo, and Mohammad Afzal, were allegedly trying to flee to Nepal.

The encounter took place while police were attempting to recover the weapon used in the murder, which was allegedly fired by Hameed, Sarfaraz, and Afzal. The violence in Bahraich began on Sunday after a local resident, Ram Gopal Mishra, was fatally shot during a Durga Puja procession. The incident led to vandalism and arson in the area.

Rukhsar, the daughter of accused Hameed, claimed that her father and two brothers were picked up by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and expressed concerns for their safety.

Following the encounter, the Samajwadi Party questioned the government’s handling of law and order issues, raising concerns about the potential use of encounters to divert attention from crimes in the state.
