**Amaravati:** The Andhra Pradesh government has declared Valmiki Jayanti as a state festival. This decision was made following a request from the Boya and Valmiki communities during the ‘Yuva Galam’ foot march led by Minister Nara Lokesh.
The government has issued orders for official celebrations of Valmiki Jayanti in all districts of Andhra Pradesh starting from the 17th of this month. The state-level celebrations will be held in Anantapur.
Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted that the government is fulfilling its promise made during the foot march. He also stated that the government is taking steps towards promoting the self-respect of the Backward Classes (BC).
