**Colombo, Sri Lanka:** Sri Lanka witnessed a surge in tourism in the first half of January, welcoming a total of 55,353 foreign tourists, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
India emerged as the top source of tourists, with 16,163 visitors arriving from the neighboring country. China and the United Kingdom followed closely, with 3,963 and 3,926 tourists respectively.
The influx of tourists is a positive sign for Sri Lanka’s economy, which has been struggling to recover from the economic crisis of recent years.
