Wed Oct 16 10:45:41 UTC 2024: ## India Warns Pakistan Against Terrorism at SCO Summit in Islamabad

**Islamabad:** India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, while addressing the SCO summit in Islamabad, warned against terrorism, separatism, and extremism, delivering a veiled message to Pakistan. He emphasized the need for trust to build better relationships, stating that “Without trust, there is nothing.”

Jaishankar also indirectly criticized China, advocating for mutual respect and sovereignty among SCO member countries. He highlighted the importance of respecting territorial integrity and refrained from supporting any unilateral agenda. This is seen as a reference to China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Jaishankar pointed out that selective adherence to practices, especially in trade and trade routes, would hinder the SCO’s progress.

The Minister further stressed the importance of confronting the three enemies – terrorism, separatism, and extremism – through sincere dialogue, trust, good neighborly relations, and commitment to the SCO Charter.

During his brief visit, Jaishankar was received by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. He will return to India later today. The SCO meeting will discuss trade and economic agendas.

This visit comes amidst heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with both countries accusing each other of supporting terrorism. Jaishankar’s strong stance against terrorism at the SCO Summit is expected to further fuel the ongoing dialogue on regional security.
