Wed Oct 16 17:04:03 UTC 2024: ## Indian Spin Legend Neetu David Inducted into ICC Hall of Fame

**Dubai, October 16, 2023:** Former Indian left-arm spinner Neetu David has achieved a historic milestone, becoming only the second Indian woman after Diana Edulji to be inducted into the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame.

The International Cricket Council announced David’s induction on Wednesday, alongside England’s Alastair Cook and South Africa’s AB de Villiers. David joins an elite group of cricketers, including fellow Indian woman Lisa Sthalekar and legends like Belinda Clark and Rachael Heyhoe-Flint.

“It is truly an honor to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame,” said David in an ICC statement. “This comes after a lifetime of dedication to this great sport, and it caps a very special journey for me to get to this point.”

David, who made her international debut in 1995, played 10 Tests and 97 ODIs for India. She is currently fourth in the list of most wickets for India in Women’s Tests, with 41 wickets.

David’s career highlights include becoming the first Indian bowler to pick up an eight-wicket haul in Women’s Tests in 1995, a feat she achieved against England in Jamshedpur. She still holds the record for the best figures by an Indian woman’s bowler in Tests with figures of 8-53.

In ODIs, David is the second leading wicket-taker for India with 141 wickets.

After her retirement in 2008, David was appointed as the chairman of selectors for the Indian Women’s team in 2020. She selected the team for the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

This prestigious induction is a fitting tribute to David’s illustrious career and her immense contribution to women’s cricket in India.
