Wed Oct 16 11:04:00 UTC 2024: ## Rain Delays IND vs NZ 1st Test, Play to Begin Earlier on Day 2
**Bengaluru:** The highly anticipated first Test match between India and New Zealand, scheduled to begin on October 16th, has been delayed due to heavy rain in Bengaluru. The first day’s play was completely washed out, and the toss couldn’t take place.
In response to the inclement weather, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a revised schedule for the second day’s play. The toss will now take place at 8:45 AM IST on Thursday, October 17th, with the match beginning at 9:15 AM IST.
The revised schedule also includes a 15-minute earlier start time for each session, with each session extended by 15 minutes. This change aims to compensate for the lost time and ensure a minimum of 98 overs are played throughout the day.
Despite the rain, some Indian players, including Virat Kohli, were seen practicing indoors. Images of Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal leaving the practice ground with their bags have gone viral on social media.
The rain delay has impacted the schedule for the entire test match. The revised schedule for the second day is:
* **First Session:** 9:15 AM to 11:30 AM
* **Second Session:** 12:10 PM to 2:45 PM
* **Third Session:** 2:45 PM to 4:45 PM
Cricket fans are eagerly awaiting the commencement of the match and hoping for better weather conditions to allow for a thrilling and competitive contest between the two teams.
