Tue Oct 15 22:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Hoax Bomb Threats Ground Multiple Flights in India, Disrupting Air Travel

**New Delhi, October 15, 2024:** A wave of hoax bomb threats targeting multiple flights in India has led to widespread disruption and delays, with at least 10 flights grounded in less than 48 hours. The latest incident involved an Air India Boeing 777 flight from Delhi to Chicago, which was diverted to Iqaluit Airport in Canada as a precautionary measure following a security threat posted online.

The Air India flight, AI127, took off from New Delhi at 3:00 am (IST) and was scheduled to land in Chicago at 7:00 am (US Time). However, the aircraft was diverted to Iqaluit, Canada, after the threat was received. The aircraft and passengers are currently being re-screened as per security protocols.

Other flights affected by hoax bomb threats today include an IndiGo flight from Dammam to Lucknow, an Air India Express flight from Ayodhya to Bengaluru, a SpiceJet flight from Darbhanga to Mumbai, an Akasa Air flight from Bagdogra to Bengaluru, and an Alliance Air flight from Amritsar to Dehradun to Delhi.

Yesterday, two IndiGo and one Air India flight also received fake threats, resulting in diversions and security checks.

All airlines have confirmed that they are taking the threats seriously and cooperating with authorities to ensure passenger safety. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is investigating the source of the threats, which are believed to have originated from an unverified X handle.

The incidents have raised concerns about security protocols and the potential impact on the aviation industry. While airlines are taking steps to ensure passenger safety, the repeated nature of the threats has led to delays, disruptions, and financial losses.

Despite the disruption, all affected flights are expected to resume their journeys once security checks are completed.
