Tue Oct 15 21:51:20 UTC 2024: ## Bomb Threats Disrupt Indian Flights, Social Media Account Suspected

**New Delhi, India** – A series of bomb threats targeting multiple flights of major Indian airlines on Tuesday caused widespread disruptions, leading to diversions, delays, and heightened security measures.

The threats, received via social media platform X, were traced back to a single account, “@schizobomber777,” which has since been suspended. Security agencies are investigating the account to identify the individual or group responsible.

At least seven flights were impacted, including Air India, IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa Air, SpiceJet, and Alliance Air. Most of the threats proved to be hoaxes, and aircraft were released after thorough security checks.

One Air India flight from Delhi to Chicago was diverted to Iqaluit Airport in Canada as a precautionary measure. IndiGo’s Dammam-Lucknow flight was diverted to Jaipur, while Air India Express’s Jaipur-Ayodhya-Bengaluru flight faced a significant delay.

Singapore scrambled two jets to escort an Air India Express flight from Madurai to Singapore away from populated areas, despite the bomb threat being deemed a hoax.

This incident follows a similar incident last month, where a Vistara flight from Mumbai to Frankfurt was diverted due to a hoax bomb threat.

Airlines worldwide are taking such threats seriously, with Air India indicating potential legal action against those responsible for the fake threats.
