Wed Oct 16 02:02:55 UTC 2024: ## Messi Magic: Hat Trick & Assists Fuel Argentina’s 6-0 Rout of Bolivia

Buenos Aires, Argentina – Lionel Messi put on a show for his home fans Tuesday night, delivering a hat trick and two assists in Argentina’s resounding 6-0 victory over Bolivia in a World Cup qualifier at Estadio Monumental.

It was a triumphant return for Messi, playing in front of the Argentine faithful for the first time in almost a year. The 37-year-old star opened the scoring in the 19th minute and went on to score twice more, including a goal in the 86th minute that capped off a dominant performance.

Messi was also instrumental in setting up goals for Julian Alvarez (45+3’) and Lautaro Martinez (43rd minute). The latter’s goal was particularly impressive as Messi charged towards the net, but instead of shooting, he cleverly dropped a pass to Martinez who finished with aplomb.

The win extends Argentina’s impressive run, who have now lost just four times in their last 67 matches. The reigning World Cup and Copa America champions are on course for a successful qualification campaign.

“It was a special night,” said Messi after the match. “To play in front of my people again after so long was amazing. The team played very well and we got a great result.”

Messi will now return to South Florida to help Inter Miami begin their playoff chase in Major League Soccer. He will have a week to rest and prepare for the MLS Cup Playoffs, which begin on October 25th.
