The government has issued directives to all districts to organize celebrations at temples dedicated to the sage, including the recitation of Ramayana, devotional singing, and other religious programs.

The highlight of the celebrations will be held at Maharshi Valmiki’s revered Tapasthan, Chitrakoot, where the government plans to host a large-scale event. The event will showcase local artists and will focus on the life and teachings of the sage.

“All districts have been instructed to organize events at temples and other important places associated with Maharshi Valmiki,” stated a government spokesperson. “The celebrations will include lighting diyas, recitation of Ramayana, and devotional performances. We are committed to providing adequate security, sanitation, and water arrangements at all event locations.”

Chitrakoot, specifically the Lalapur region, holds special significance as Maharshi Valmiki spent a significant part of his life there. The government has appointed Regional Tourism Officer, Anupam Shrivastava, to oversee the event in Lalapur. The celebrations will start at 11 am on 17th October with a wreath-laying ceremony at the sage’s statue. This will be followed by a series of spiritual and cultural programs featuring renowned artists like Bhagwati Jagran Manch and Dayaram Rakwad. Other events include Havans, devotional singing, Valmiki Ramayana recitation, and the performance of the Lav Kush episode.

The government is actively engaging local artists and has formed committees in all districts to oversee the selection of venues and performances.

The government’s efforts to celebrate Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti reflect its commitment to promoting and preserving India’s rich cultural heritage. The event is expected to draw large crowds and further enhance the religious and cultural significance of Chitrakoot.
