**Bhopal:** Barfani Dham Ashram, situated in the eastern part of the city, is gearing up for the annual Sharad Purnima celebration on 16th October. As per tradition, the ashram will distribute free herbal kheer, a special preparation believed to have medicinal properties.
The practice of distributing herbal kheer began three decades ago in the presence of Rajayogi Baba Barfani. The ashram, known for its unique south Indian style entrance, has been a popular destination for locals, particularly those travelling on MR 9 Road (Malviya Nagar).
This year, the ashram is preparing to serve thousands of devotees with various types of kheer, including special preparations for asthma, diabetes, and blood pressure. The kheer, prepared with herbs, is highly sought after by people suffering from these ailments and many wait eagerly for the annual event.
The ashram also houses various deities like Rajrajeshwari Mahatripura Sundari, Maa Baglamukhi, Maa Baal Tripur Sundari, Lord Ganesha, Bhairavnath, Ram Darbar, Hanuman, Dada Barfani, and Pardeshwar Mahadev. Regular pujas, havans, and yagnas are also conducted throughout the year, especially during festivals like Diwali, Dussehra, Purnima, Amavasya, and Navratri.
The ashram has a long-standing tradition of providing free Ayurvedic medicines to devotees every Sunday, a practice started by the revered Dada Barfani.
To ensure smooth operations on Sharad Purnima, the ashram has made elaborate arrangements to accommodate the influx of devotees. Over 150 volunteers from the ashram will be on duty to manage the crowd and cater to the needs of devotees.
