Wed Oct 16 12:18:04 UTC 2024: ## Madhya Pradesh Employees Protest Against 3% DA Increase, Demand Parity with Central Employees
**Bhopal, India:** A wave of discontent has swept through Madhya Pradesh as government employees react sharply to the recent 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) announced by the central government. Leaders and members of the Madhya Pradesh Teacher Congress have voiced their strong disapproval, demanding parity with central employees and immediate implementation of the increased DA.
Suresh Sharma, President of the Madhya Pradesh Teacher Congress, expressed deep dissatisfaction, stating that the meager increase fails to provide any substantial relief from the soaring inflation. He highlighted that despite the government’s promise to align state DA with the central timeline, it has yet to be implemented.
“The DA is a right of employees and is crucial for providing relief from rising prices. The central government has already implemented a 4% DA increase from January 1, 2024, which Madhya Pradesh employees are still awaiting. Now, with another 3% increase announced, the disparity continues,” Sharma said.
He also pointed out the chronic issue of vacant positions and a high rate of retirement, which further exacerbates the situation for existing employees. Sharma urged the government to take immediate steps to address the grievances, including providing the pending DA hike and increasing the House Rent Allowance (HRA), which has remained stagnant for several years.
Several other prominent leaders and members of the Madhya Pradesh Teacher Congress have also joined the protest, demanding prompt action from the government. The protest movement is gaining momentum, with many advocating for a resolution before Diwali to ensure a sense of fairness and stability for the state’s employees.
