**New Delhi:** Central government employees and pensioners are likely to receive a much-awaited hike in their dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) rates. The increase, estimated to be between 3% and 4%, is expected to be approved by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday.
The proposal to raise DA/DR rates has already been submitted to the Cabinet for consideration. If approved, the hike will come into effect retrospectively, benefiting lakhs of central government employees and pensioners across the country.
This move comes as a welcome relief for government employees and pensioners, whose purchasing power has been impacted by inflation. The DA/DR hike is expected to provide them with some financial respite and help offset the rising cost of living.
