Tue Oct 15 12:42:30 UTC 2024: ## New Zealand Women Storm into Semi-Finals, Knocking Out Pakistan and India

**Dubai, UAE** – New Zealand Women secured their place in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 with a dominant 54-run victory over Pakistan in a nail-biting match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday. This victory not only sent the Kiwis through but also eliminated both Pakistan and India from the tournament.

Pakistan, who needed a victory in less than 10.4 overs to advance, started the chase positively but were quickly dismantled by the New Zealand bowlers. They were reduced to a paltry 28/5 in the powerplay, with Eden Carson taking two crucial wickets and Melie Kerr claiming three.

Earlier, New Zealand posted a competitive 110/6, with contributions from Suzie Bates, Brooke Halliday, Sophie Devine, and Georgia Plimmer. While Nashra Sandhu snagged three wickets for Pakistan, the Green Queens were let down by their fielding, dropping several easy catches that proved costly.

“It still hasn’t sunk in,” said Sophie Devine, New Zealand captain. “It’s a great feeling to make it to the semis, but this is just the start. We’ll celebrate but we have to keep going.”

Fatima Sana Khan, Pakistan captain, admitted that her team’s batting let them down. “We were good with the ball, but the batting let us down,” she said. “The senior players need to take more responsibility in such games. Our bowling was up to the mark, but our fielding and batting need to improve a lot to survive in women’s cricket.”

Eden Carson, Player of the Match, said she was “pretty excited about the semi-finals.” “It was intense out there, and our skills got us through. The Pakistani spinners were really good, and we tried to do the same, and it worked out,” she said.

New Zealand will now face the winner of the Group B clash between England and West Indies in the semi-finals.
