Gehlot has been entrusted with the responsibility of two divisions: Mumbai and Konkan. He will be assisted by Dr. G. Parameshwara in this role. Pilot, on the other hand, will oversee the Marathwada division, with Telangana leader Uttam Kumar Reddy as his co-observer.
Other prominent Congress leaders tasked with overseeing various divisions include:
* **Vidarbha:** Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, and Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Umang Singhar.
* **Western Maharashtra:** Leader of the Opposition in Chhattisgarh T.S. Singh Deo and Karnataka Congress leader M.B. Patil.
* **Northern Maharashtra:** Syed Nasir Hussain and D. Anusuya Sita Rama Raju.
The Congress has appointed Mukul Wasnik (Rajya Sabha MP) and Avinash Pande (AICC General Secretary) as State Election Senior Coordinators.
With the Maharashtra Assembly’s term ending on November 26th, the Election Commission is expected to announce the poll dates later today. The commission is also scheduled to announce dates for by-elections in around 50 seats, including those in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
This move by the Congress signals a serious effort to improve its performance in the upcoming Maharashtra elections. The party will be hoping that the experience and leadership of its prominent leaders will translate into electoral success.
