**COLOMBO, SRI LANKA -** Kamindu Mendis, the rising star of the Sri Lankan National Cricket Team, has been awarded the ICC Player of the Month for September 2024, marking his second win of the award this year.
Mendis, a left-handed batsman, was instrumental in Sri Lanka’s dominant performance in the Test format throughout September. His exceptional form saw him rack up 451 runs at an impressive average of 90.20 in the four Test matches he played.
Mendis’s contributions extended beyond mere statistics, as he also achieved several notable milestones:

* He reached 1000 Test runs in just 13 innings, equaling Don Bradman’s record for the fastest to achieve this milestone in 75 years.
