Tue Oct 15 18:05:08 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru Schools and Colleges Face Low Attendance Amid Heavy Rains

**Bengaluru, October 15, 2024:** Heavy rains that lashed Bengaluru overnight have led to low student attendance in schools and colleges across the city. The downpour, which continued into the morning, made it difficult for students to reach their institutions.

Many parents opted to take their children to school in their own vehicles, adding to the already heavy traffic congestion. School buses were caught in the slow-moving traffic, resulting in students arriving late for class.

While many state board schools remain closed due to Dasara holidays, schools under central boards like CBSE and ICSE were operational. However, the low turnout was evident even in these institutions.

“The number of students attending classes is low due to the heavy rains. Fewer students have come even in school vehicles,” stated the Headmistress of a private school in Basavanagudi.

Similarly, college attendance was also affected. Induction programs and regular classes were disrupted by the ongoing rainfall and the lack of reliable transportation.

“Buses are not available on time, and it has been raining continuously since night. So, I have decided not to go to college today,” shared Tarun, a degree student.

Parents and students alike expressed concerns over the impact of the heavy rains on their daily routines and educational schedules.
