Bengaluru, the “Silicon Valley of India,” has experienced refreshing rainfall over the past 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a maximum temperature of 25.4°C and a minimum of 20.7°C, with 3.3 mm of rainfall. However, the city is bracing for heavier downpours in the coming days, with a yellow alert issued for several regions in Karnataka, including Bengaluru itself.

On October 15th, Bengaluru is expected to see heavy rain throughout the day, with temperatures hovering around 25°C. Several districts, including Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Kolar, and Mysuru, are expected to experience particularly heavy rainfall. The wet weather is forecast to persist on October 16th, with temperatures potentially rising slightly to 26°C. This pattern will continue impacting Bengaluru and surrounding districts like Chamarajanagar, Mandya, and Ramanagara until October 17th, with a high of 27°C.

Coastal Karnataka, including Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, is also under alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall. Southern regions such as Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Mandya, and Mysuru could experience significant rain, potentially leading to local disruptions. Authorities are urging residents to remain cautious and be prepared for potential challenges.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu is also preparing for heavy rains. A developing low-pressure system over the southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify and move towards the coasts of north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh in the next few days. As a precaution, the state government has declared a holiday for schools and colleges in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu districts on October 15th.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rain in several Tamil Nadu districts from October 15th to October 17th, with extremely heavy rain expected in Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and other areas. Schools remain closed as a precaution, and IT firms have been advised to allow employees to work from home. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed for relief operations, and officials are on high alert for potential flooding.
