Tue Oct 15 08:05:42 UTC 2024: ## Salman Khan Urged to Apologize to Bishnoi Community for Black Buck Killing
**New Delhi, India:** In the wake of the recent killing of veteran Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique, a senior BJP leader has called on Bollywood actor Salman Khan to apologize to the Bishnoi community for his involvement in the 1998 black buck poaching case. Rajya Sabha MP Harnath Singh Yadav, citing the community’s deep cultural and religious reverence for the black buck, believes that an apology would help to mend the long-standing rift.
The case involves the alleged killing of a black buck while Khan and his co-stars were filming the movie “Hum Saath-Saath Hain” in Rajasthan. Khan was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison, though he is currently out on bail while his conviction is being appealed.
“The blackbuck is worshipped in the Bishnoi community, and its killing left the community furious,” said Yadav. He emphasized that a sincere apology would not diminish Khan’s status but rather enhance it. “The best way to end this is to repent and apologize,” he added.
Yadav’s comments come at a time when Khan’s security has been heightened following Siddique’s death, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The group has claimed responsibility for Siddique’s killing, citing his close ties to Khan.
The MP’s call for an apology coincides with the arrest of a third suspect in connection with Siddique’s murder. Pravin Lonkar, accused of recruiting two of the alleged shooters, was remanded to police custody until October 21st.
The situation underscores the potential for long-standing conflicts to resurface, and the need for reconciliation to foster peace and stability.
