Tue Oct 15 08:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Navy Radar Station Construction Begins in Vikarabad, Telangana

**Vikarabad, Telangana:** The foundation stone for the highly anticipated Navy Radar Station was laid today in the Damagundam forests of Vikarabad district, Telangana. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the project amidst tight security measures.

The radar station, located 60 km from Hyderabad at an altitude of 360 feet above sea level, has been in the planning stages for over a decade. The project faced several hurdles, including environmental and land acquisition issues, but finally received clearance from the State Government and various other agencies.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Speaker Prasad Kumar, Union Ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, and several other dignitaries were present at the event. The construction of the radar station is estimated to cost Rs. 3200 crore, a significant increase from the initial estimate of Rs. 1900 crore.

The project was initially proposed in 2010-11 and received approval from the central and state governments in 2015. However, land acquisition issues delayed the commencement of construction until now.

In anticipation of the event, police authorities have deployed over 400 special police forces for security measures. The venue has been fortified with a special command unit, and access for the public has been restricted.

The Navy Radar Station is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening national security and safeguarding the Indian coastline. Its completion is a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to modernize India’s defense capabilities.
