Tue Oct 15 14:47:08 UTC 2024: ## Bomb Threats Ground Multiple Flights in India, All Found to Be Hoaxes
**New Delhi, October 15, 2024:** A wave of bomb threats disrupted air travel in India on Tuesday, with at least six flights being diverted or grounded. While all threats were ultimately deemed hoaxes, the incidents caused significant delays and disruptions for passengers.
The most serious incident involved Air India’s flight AI 127 from Delhi to Chicago, which was diverted to Iqaluit airport in Canada following a bomb threat. All passengers and the aircraft were thoroughly screened as per security protocols. Air India has vowed to pursue legal action against those responsible for the hoax.
Similar threats were received for Akasa Air’s Bagdogra to Bengaluru flight, Air India Express’s Jaipur to Ayodhya flight, and SpiceJet’s Darbhanga to Mumbai flight. The threats were reportedly delivered through X and email, according to a Ministry of Home Affairs source.
These incidents follow Monday’s bomb threats to an Air India flight from Mumbai to New York and two IndiGo international flights originating from Mumbai, which were also found to be hoaxes.
Despite the threats being declared false, the airline industry faces significant challenges in managing the disruptions caused by these hoaxes. Air India’s statement highlights the financial burden incurred due to these incidents, and the airline has committed to seeking compensation from those responsible.
Authorities are investigating the origin of these threats and the motives behind them.
